SECURING SUSTAINABLE FUTURE OF COFFEE
Taking care of the environment is imperative to the future of coffee and coffee farmers, and to the world we live in.
At Starbucks, we believe in the importance of caring for our planet and working with and encouraging others to do the same. As a company that relies on an agricultural product, it makes good business sense. And as people living in the world, it is simply the right thing to do.
We’re proud to be developing more environmentally friendly solutions and working hard to expand our existing programs in an effort to minimize our environmental footprint and tackle climate change.
SHIFTING AWAY FROM SINGLE-USE TO REUSABLE PACKAGING
CHOOSE TO REUSE
Reducing waste and encouraging guests to use reusable cups is one of the brand's key global initiatives. With our wide range of core and seasonal merchandise items, such as tumblers, bottles, cold cups, everyone can find their favorite and choose to reuse.
BRING YOUR OWN TUMBLER
Bring Your Own Tumbler is our flagship initiative, aiming at eliminating paper and plastic waste. Come to Starbucks with your own container (bottle, tumbler, reusable cup) to receive X discount on your favorite beverage.
WORKING ON BETTER WAYS TO MANAGE OUR WASTE
STRAWLESS LID
Starbucks Strawless lids feature a slightly raised sipping hole that eliminates the need for straw completely, resulting in an overall reduction of plastic. The Strawless lid is made of plastic which can be recycled.
PAPER STRAWS
We have introduced paper straws, eliminating plastic ones, for all beverages that can't be served with our Strawless lid.
WOODEN CUTLERY
We have eliminated plastic cutlery, implementing its wooden substitute, that is available for customers ordering for take-away on demand.
TAKE YOUR COFFEE GROUNDS HOME
To minimize our waste, we offer bags with used coffee grounds for our customers to reuse in their household or garden.
TOO GOOD TO GO
Too Good To Go app connects us to the customers who help us saving unsold food from our stores. Each day we offer Surprise Bags of surplus food for 1/3 of the original price.
